About CARE Team

Building a Community Where No One Feels Alone

CARE Team (Community Action for Resident Elders) is a volunteer-based community initiative that connects elderly residents with caring neighbors who provide regular check-ins, practical assistance, and companionship.

We believe that strong communities take care of their own. Every elderly resident deserves to feel valued, supported, and connected—regardless of their circumstances.

Our Mission

To create a supportive community network where elderly residents remain independent, connected, and valued through meaningful relationships with caring volunteer neighbors.

We’re not a service organization. We’re a community movement that brings neighbors together to care for the people who built our neighborhoods.

Why CARE Team Exists

Too many elderly residents live alone, isolated from their communities. They may have family far away, limited mobility, or simply outlived their social networks. Some struggle with daily tasks that become harder with age. Others just want someone to talk to.

Meanwhile, their neighbors—families, working professionals, retirees, and teens—want to help but don’t know how.

CARE Team bridges that gap.

We match elderly residents with nearby volunteers for regular support, creating meaningful relationships that benefit everyone involved.

How CARE Team Works

For Elderly Residents (Participants)

1. You Reach Out
Call us at 321-252-9411, email help@vieracareteam.org, or fill out our online form. Tell us what kind of support would help you most.

2. We Match You
Our coordinator connects you with one or more volunteers from your neighborhood based on your needs and preferences.

3. You Connect
Meet your volunteer(s) and decide together what schedule and type of help works best. You’re always in control.

4. Build Relationships
Over time, these connections grow into real friendships. You’re not just receiving help—you’re building community.

For Volunteers

1. You Sign Up
Tell us about yourself, your availability (as little as 15 minutes per week), and how you’d like to help.

2. We Match You
We’ll connect you with a nearby elderly resident whose needs align with what you can offer.

3. You Make Contact
Reach out to your matched participant, introduce yourself, and coordinate your first visit or call.

4. You Make a Difference
Provide regular check-ins and support. Watch how small acts of kindness create powerful connections.

Inclusion
Everyone is welcome—regardless of background, circumstances, or ability to pay.

Our Impact

Since launching, CARE Team has:
– Connected dozens of elderly residents with caring volunteers
– Facilitated thousands of hours of volunteer service
– Built lasting friendships across generations
– Helped residents stay independent in their homes longer
– Created a model for community care that others can replicate
– Reduced isolation and improved wellbeing for participants
– Given volunteers meaningful ways to serve their community

But the real impact? It’s in the stories—the widow who no longer eats dinner alone, the veteran who found someone to share his stories with, the grandmother who gets to video chat with her grandkids now, the teenager who learned life lessons from a neighbor born in the 1940s.

How We’re Different

We’re Not Home Care
We’re community volunteers, not paid caregivers. We provide companionship and practical help, not medical care.

We’re Not a One-Time Service
We build ongoing relationships. This isn’t about checking a box—it’s about connecting people.

We’re Not Corporate
We’re a grassroots community initiative. Every volunteer is a real neighbor, not an employee.

We’re Not Exclusive
No membership fees, no qualification hoops, no waitlists. If you need help or want to volunteer, you’re in.
